In a sport where fighters are normally scowling, annoyed, acrimonious, and straight-up pissed off, Keith Thurman, by and large, is one of the happier ones.

Keith Thurman knows that his words can’t be trusted. For years, the former unified champion promised his fans that he would get back in the ring, only to be derailed. Now, however, he appears to be on the verge of keeping his promise.

Keith Thurman and Brock Jarvis once again were engulphed in a war-of-words Monday afternoon as the entire March 12 card took to the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park for a press conference to kick off the Thurman v Jarvis fight-week.

Before Errol Spence Jr. became a unified champion and prior to Terence Crawford capturing undisputed recognition, Keith Thurman was the man to beat in the welterweight division.

Keith Thurman has fought only once since the summer of 2019, and although his jab might be rusty, the gab is still operating at the peak of its powers.

Keith Thurman might be the most patient man in the world. For the former unified welterweight champ, he’s been forced to take a slow and methodical approach. With only two fights since July of 2019, Thurman’s body simply isn’t what it used to be.

There used to be a time when you couldn’t mention the welterweight division without discussing Keith Thurman. Injuries though, pushed Thurman out of the spotlight and directly out of the mind of just about everyone.

It’s getting to the point where this current generation of fighters is unfamiliar with the ones who came before them. Brock Jarvis, 27, was all smiles when he was recently given the news. After two consecutive knockout victories, he’ll officially attempt to grab his biggest win when taking on Keith Thurman on March 12th, in Sydney Australia.

As previously reported by The Ring, former unified welterweight world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman will snap a three year layoff when he takes on Australia’s Brock Jarvis at Sydney’s historic Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Keith Thurman is once again slated to square off with an Australian opponent.
