Outside of his camp, you’ll have a difficult time finding many people who believe in Stephen Fulton. Once a unified champion at 122 pounds and considered one of the best fighters in the world, Fulton (22-1, 8 KOs) marches into his showdown against Brandon Figueroa as a significant underdog this weekend. Fulton doesn’t have an issue with anyone’s opinion, but considering that he beat Figueroa just a few years ago, he has a hard time understanding where everyone is coming from.

Wednesday’s event also featured fighters competing on the four-fight pay-per-view, including WBC Featherweight World Champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa and former unified world champion Stephen Fulton Jr., who square off in the co-main event in a rematch of one of 2021’s best fights.

After dropping a majority decision to Stephen Fulton in November of 2021, Brandon Figueroa briefly stood by as Fulton worked through the formalities of his post-fight interview with Jim Gray. Even though Fulton led with compliments for his opponent, Figueroa was too agitated with the decision not going his way to hear them.

Brandon Figueroa has a rematch to focus on first and foremost against Stephen Fulton on February 1, and if the WBC featherweight champion gets past his former rival, anticipation will begin building in perhaps welcoming undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya Inoue to the division.

Stephen Fulton is still kicking himself. The Philly star once walked around like he couldn’t be beat. Can you blame him? For practically the entirety of his career, Fulton barely lost rounds. So, when he attempted to knock off Naoya Inoue in 2023, he was convinced he could get the job done.

It was a memorable firefight ending in a majority decision defeat, though they'll run it back as the co-main event to the light-heavyweight clash between David Benavidez and David Morrell at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on Prime Video pay-per-view next month.

Stephen Fulton will always be grateful to Brandon Figueroa. Thanks to him, Fulton was able to become a unified champion in 2021. Their all-out war also allowed him to show the rest of the world that he’s more than just a smooth boxer.
