MVP Announces Signing Of WBO Lightweight World Champion Terri Harper
Another day, another world champion signed. Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have this morning announced that England's first-ever three-division female world titleholder and current WBO titlist Terri Harper, has signed to join their ever-increasing stable.

Harper (16-2-2, 6 KOs) surprised many by outpointing then-unbeaten titleholder Rhiannon Dixon to win the title last September, before headlining GBM Sports' Doncaster stadium show with a comfortable points victory over Natalie Zimmermann in May. Afterwards, the 28-year-old confirmed she was a free agent - but no more.

In an official press release, she said: "I am excited to join the movement of women's boxing at MVP. Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul are doing great things for the sport of boxing and women in particular. I'm looking forward to some big nights and big fights ahead. Let's go!"

All the talk in the build-up to her commanding Zimmermann win centred around a potential WBO/WBC unification with BOXXER-backed champion Caroline Dubois (11-0-1, 5 KOs).

The 23-year-old talent needed to show mettle late on when defending her own strap in a hard-fought showdown with South Korea's Bo Mi Re Shin as part of an all-women's card headlined by Lauren Price-Natasha Jonas on March 7.

Dubois' original plan was for Harper to stand opposite her that night at London's Royal Albert Hall, though the Denaby Main resident rejected the call and was unhappy with unsatisfactory financial terms reportedly on offer, as well as a short seven-week notice.

While making sure to praise their latest addition's championship credentials, Paul and Bidarian spoke to their increased focus on the British market. In a joint statement, they said:

"The UK is a top priority for MVP, and Terri's pedigree and power are a perfect fit for our growing international platform. We're assembling a powerhouse roster of British talent that will command global attention and deliver some of the biggest fights in women's boxing."

Harper is the latest in a long line of champions and notable names to join their stable from UK shores, including RING and unified junior featherweight champion Ellie Scotney.

Former undisputed junior welterweight titleholder Chantelle Cameron and two-time super middleweight titlist Savannah Marshall are included in that list, while one-time bantamweight champ Shannon Courtenay was one of five signings unveiled on Tuesday.

Dubois commented on Harper's Instagram announcement, saying: "Congratulations. But it takes two to tango 'champ', I want this fight next, I'm speaking to my team everyday, hope you can keep that same energy and make sure your team make it happen next."
