Unbeaten British junior welterweight Jack Rafferty will try to continue his impressive run against domestic rival Mark Chamberlain on Saturday night in Manchester.
MANCHESTER, England – Jack Rafferty and Mark Chamberlain both comfortably made the 140-pound limit Friday ahead of their 12-round junior welterweight title fight.
Shaw’s Rafferty (26-0, 17 KOs) has scored three consecutive stoppage victories since being signed by Queensberry Promotions last year and is intent on making a big impression in his first headline appearance. He tipped the scales at 139.5 pounds.
Chamberlain (17-1, 12 KOs) also weighed in at 139.5. The 26-year-old southpaw from Portsmouth will be keen to rediscover the exciting form that earned him the opportunity to perform on a number of Riyadh Season cards.
In the evening’s co-feature, Zak Miller (16-1, 3 KOs) will defend his Commonwealth featherweight title over 12 rounds against Leicester’s Leon Woodstock (16-4, 7 KOs).
A loud group of Miller fans made the short journey from Ashton to see their man step on the scale at 125.4 pounds. The intense Woodstock weighed 125.1.
