World-rated cruiserweight Ryan Rozicki has been beset by injury issues in 2025.

A torn biceps ruled him out for much of the year before his eagerness to return led to another setback.

"I was scheduled to fight Badou Jack in Saudi Arabia on the Canelo [Alvarez]-[William] Scull undercard, I went to training camp in Texas and the first day of sparring I tore my biceps in the first round of sparring. It was a freak accident," Rozicki told The Ring.

"I went back to Nova Scotia to repair it. The surgeon told me six months, so I did everything we were supposed to do."

The 30-year-old Canadian power puncher, rated at No. 4 by The Ring at cruiserweight, had been tabbed to face Akani Phuzi (14-3, 6 KOs) on October 25 before fate, once again, reared its ugly head when he returned to camp.

"I went a little too hard, a little too quick and I reinjured it," he said. "Luckily it didn't need surgery the second time. It just kind of put me back two months. It seems like I'm full healed now. Now, I'm ready to fight."

Rozicki (20-1-1, 19 KOs), who attended the WBC convention in Thailand, is ready to head to training camp upon his return with fight news imminent.

"I don't know where and I don't know who yet," he said. "I know I'm going to fight in the next two months.

"It's a possibility [that it could be Akani Phuzi], but if I get a better fight against a better opponent, I'll take that. I'm going to take the best fight I can get."

His long-time promoter, Daniel Otter of Three Lions Promotions, went on to explain further.

"He's at 100 percent from the injury but now he needs to be 100 percent for the training," he said. "One or two months, sparring and getting back in the gym. He's ready to get in there."

Although the winner of Badou Jack-Noel Mikaelian II for the WBC title is his target, Rozicki understands he likely doesn't have next and someone else is more deserving.

"I was mandatory for a little over two years, and in that time, I only had one fight, it was a draw. [Michal Cieslak] from Poland won the Interim title, so as far as I am concerned, he should get the first shot. He earned it," he said. "You shouldn't break those morals. He deserves a shot. I'd be happy to fight the winner of him versus the Jack-Noel fight."

While he waits, Rozicki just wants to remain active.

"Ideally I'd have a comeback fight, maybe two, depending how they go," he said.
