It has emerged and been confirmed by The Ring in the last few hours that Cletus Seldin is out of his scheduled interim WBA junior welterweight title bout against Kevin Brown on Saturday night at Orlando's Caribe Royale.
Cletus Seldin is out of his scheduled interim WBA junior welterweight title bout against Kevin Brown on Saturday night at Orlando's Caribe Royale.
Seldin (29-1, 23 KOs) was pulled from the bout due to an adverse finding for testosterone. Carlos Linares was first to report the news that Seldin was out, before Dan Rafael reported the adverse finding was the reason he's no longer boxing Brown as planned.
The Ring has since also confirmed Seldin's withdrawal from the contest.
Having successfully made weight, Brown (8-0, 3 KOs) will now defend his secondary title in a 10-round bout against Amos Cowart (13-2-1, 10 KOs) in the Boxlab main event - Cowart already previously scheduled to box as part of the undercard.
This isn’t the first time Seldin (29-1, 23 KOs) has returned atypical levels of testosterone in a drug test. Seldin, 39, also failed drug tests in 2016 and 2017 for elevated levels of testosterone.
Yoenis Tellez (10-1, 7 KOs) is fighting for the first time since losing his interim WBA 154-pound title to Abass Baraou via unanimous decision in August, as he’ll face Kendo Castaneda (21-12, 9 KOs) over eight rounds.
Jasmine Artiga (14-0-1, 7 KOs) is also on the card, defending her WBA flyweight title against Stephanie Silva (10-1) over ten two-minute rounds. Silva isn't eligible to win the title, having missed weight by over four pounds at Friday's weigh-in.
