Negotiations are underway for Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois to rematch later this year for the undisputed heavyweight titles, the Ukrainian's manager has confirmed.
The pair fought in August 2023 and it was Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) who came out on top, winning by eighth-round stoppage in front of 40,000 fans at Wroclaw Stadium in Poland.
The fight wasn't without its controversy, however, as midway through the bout Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) seemingly hurt Usyk with a body shot, only for the referee to rule the blow low.
Usyk writhed around on the floor in pain and was given several minutes to recover before he got off the deck and fought on to claim an impressive stoppage victory.
After that fight, Usyk, who held the WBA, WBO and IBF titles, beat Tyson Fury in May 2024 for The Ring and WBC belts to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
Shortly after that Usyk relinquished his IBF strap, which Dubois picked up and defended against Anthony Joshua with a fifth-round knockout win at Wembley Stadium last September.
Usyk rematched and beat Fury again last December and while Dubois was scheduled to defend his title against Joseph Parker in February, the Brit had to pull out of the clash on fight week after coming down with a virus.
Plans now look to be heading towards a clash for all the belts once again, according to Usyk's manager Alex Krassyuk, who says that Wembley Stadium is in contention to host the fight.
He told Sky Sports: "We are now working on this fight [Usyk vs Dubois 2], Wembley [Stadium] as one of the options."
Earlier this month, The Ring learned from Dubois' father Stan that his son would be targeting the rematch with Usyk next, rather than pursue a title defence against Parker.
"Next, he wants Usyk, it’s frustrating about the Parker fight but he couldn’t fight with an infection," he said. "Usyk is who we're going after next."
