The WBO is taking matters into its own hands.

Three weeks after ordering Diego Pacheco and Hamzah Sheeraz, their respective No. 2 and No. 3 super middleweight contenders, to fight for the vacant WBO title, they’re now ordering purse bids.

“As the parties have been unable to reach an agreement within the allotted time, the (WBO) will proceed with purse bid proceedings, in accordance with its regulations,” WBO president Gustavo Olivieri informed the media. “Official date, time & venue to be announced.”

The sanctioning body has made clear their stance on the financial split, which will be determined by the fight's location.

If Pacheco (25-0, 18 KOs) and Sheeraz clash in the UK, the Los Angeles native will be favored with a 60-40 split, and vice versa if the fight takes place in the US, where Pacheco is based. If both sides agree to a neutral site, the purse will be split 50-50.

In the case of both men, winning a world title is a goal they’ve desperately wanted to check off. Sheeraz came close to doing so last year but had to settle for a draw with WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames.

He bounced back in July on 'Ring III', dismantling Edgar Belanga in the fifth round of their main event at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Sheeraz has also been linked to current WBC interim champion, Christian Mbilli.

Pacheco has been vocal about his desire to face top-tier opposition. The 24-year-old had an active 2025, beating Steven Nelson, Trevor McCumby and Kevin Lele Sadjo, who scored a knockdown over Pacheco in their December clash.
