Cuban middleweight contender
Yoenli Hernandez scored an easy stoppage win, as expected, on Sunday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Hernandez (9-0, 8 KOs), The Ring’s No. 4-ranked fighter at 160 pounds, needed one round to dismiss outmatched 39-year-old journeyman Ramon De La Cruz Sena (24-41-3, 14 KOs).
Hernandez dropped Sena to the body with 40 seconds to go in the opening round. Although Sena got up and survived to hear the bell to finish the round, their scheduled 10-round fight was waved off in the Argentine's corner right afterward.
The victory didn't do much for the three-year pro Hernandez, but at least it kept Camaguey's 28-year-old power puncher active.
“Yoyo El Diablo” Hernandez was coming off a spectacular performance in his most recent outing on May 31 when he brutally beat down
Kyrone Davis in a dominant and one-sided unanimous decision win after
promising to showcase a more entertaining Cuban style.
Hernandez also recently served as a sophisticated sparring partner for
Canelo Alvarez ahead of the
Mexican star's fight against Terence Crawford last month.
