Jaron “Boots” Ennis and
Vergil Ortiz have instructed their teams to make a fight between them happen next.
So far, however, discussions have been kept under wraps and it's unclear if talks are progressing. If, of course, things are going well and both sides can come to an agreement, countless names, including
Xander Zayas, will be watching closely.
By and large, opinions surrounding their matchup are split down the middle. But, according to Zayas, he has a strong feeling about who would win.
“I think I have Boots being the winner of that fight,” Zayas told FightHype. “He’s athletic, explosive, strong too, fast, sharp.”
The attributes Zayas (22-0, 13 KOs) used to describe Ennis were all on display on October 11 Uisma Lima stepped up against the Philly star. But Ennis
sliced through Lima and stopped him in the first round at Xfinity Arena in Philadelphia.
But while Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs, 1 NC) looked terrific, Ortiz (24-0, 22 KOs) looked equally as good in
stopping highly-ranked contender Erickson Lubin via second-round KO in November.
Even though Ortiz made quick work of his man, Zayas has a difficult time seeing him have much success in a possible future fight with Ennis.
“We’ve seen Vergil in trouble when he gets a fighter that moves or throws punches with him,” Ortiz continued. “I got Boots taking that fight.”
