If Terence Crawford Beats Canelo Alvarez, Caleb Plant Accepts He'll Be On His Radar
Terence Crawford finally got what he was looking for.

There's some food left on the table at 154 pounds. There's also work at 160. Crawford, however, is at the tail end of his career and has already made clear he isn't interested in mundane matchups against nondescript opponents. Instead, he’d rather close out the final chapter of his career fighting one of the biggest stars possible in Canelo Alvarez.

It has now been made official, Canelo-Crawford is set for September 12th at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium. Naturally given the stakes, they'll give one another their undivided attention between now and fight night. But once they eventually get it on for all of the super-middleweight marbles, former IBF titleholder Caleb Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) will be lurking in the background waiting and plotting a shot at facing the winner.

Crawford, moving up a further two divisions to take on the challenge, has always been friendly with Plant. The pair have been spotted on multiple occasions joking around, having jovial conversations, to the point a potential fight has never come across Plant's mind.

However, should Crawford manage to knock off Alvarez, he'll be in possession of undisputed status at 168-pounds - a division Plant has long called home. So no matter how close they appear to be, that would be put to the side in this scenario.

"Yea," Plant told several reporters when asked if a fight with Crawford makes sense. "I mean, all the top super-middleweights are on my radar. I wanna face the best."

Before he can entertain it fully, there’s dust in the air that must be cleared. Crawford will have to dethrone Alvarez and if he does, he’ll have to decide on what his future holds. Plant, similarly, has a few things to worry about as well.

The 32-year-old has a dinner date lined up against Jose Armando Resendiz (15-2, 11 KOs) on May 31st and should everything go according to plan elsewhere that evening, Jermall Charlo - who boxes Thomas LaManna on that same PBC card - is up next.

Plant believes boxing is full of posturing and plenty claiming to have an interest in fighting world-class opposition. Plant feels his past resume and the one he continues to craft, prove he wants to test himself against the best, which could include Crawford one day.

"A lot of fighters say that but I don’t feel like a lot of them have shown and proved that," Plant continued. "I've shown and proved that."
