Eddie Hearn Believes Dillian Whyte Could Push Moses Itauma
Outside of Team Dillian Whyte, it seems everyone believes the 37-year-old Londoner is in for a brutal night.

Whyte will stroll to the ring this Saturday at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on a DAZN PPV. Waiting ominously for him will be Moses Itauma, the hard-punching rising star who, at 20, is almost half his opponent's age.

For most of the lead-up, fans, matchmakers and his fellow fighters are wondering when, not if Whyte will ultimately fall. Oddsmakers are also on the Itauma (12-0, 10 KOs) bandwagon, pegging him as a massive favorite.

Eddie Hearn, for one, wonders whether the older man is being underestimated. Does he believe Itauma will have his hand raised in victory? Yes. But is he giving Whyte a shot? Absolutely.

“I do think Moses will win the fight, but I think it would be wrong to rule [Whyte] out,” Hearn told The Ring during a candid sit-down. “He’s a very tough man, he’s a good fighter, and he’s got plenty of dog in him.”

Itauma couldn't drink alcohol legally in the United States, but when it comes to fighting, he does that extremely well.

In his last eight bouts, the highly ranked contender has stopped each of his opponents in their tracks. But, if you took the time to take a peek through his resume, most of those names would be unrecognizable.

Whyte, by a large margin, is the best heavyweight he has faced yet ... at least on paper.

It took a little while for him to bounce back from a stoppage loss to Tyson Fury in April of 2022. But since then, he’s gone on a three-fight win streak, including a seventh-round stoppage of Ebenezer Tetteh this past December.

Whyte (31-3, 21 KOs) has had a long career. He has been brutally knocked out; he also has walked through the competition. The sort of experience he has against the likes of Fury, Anthony Joshua, Derek Chisora, Joseph Parker, and a few others, is valuable.

For Hearn, Itauma has looked like a monster. But he does have a few questions about the young fighter heading into the biggest night of his life.

“The inactivity is a problem [for Whyte], the age is a problem, maybe a few injuries are problems, but we don’t know two things about Moses. How good is his chin? And what’s he like when it gets really tough?” Hearn asked. “Maybe he’s fine on both accounts, but I think Dillian could be the guy to do it.”
