Tysie Gallagher is out of her scheduled British and Commonwealth title defence against Ebonie Jones after her partner's mother was killed.
Gallagher (9-2, 0 KOs) and Jones (6-0-1, 0 KOs) were scheduled to clash on February 7th in Sheffield on the Shakan Pitters vs. Daniel Blenda Dos Santos undercard.
But the Junior Featherweight bout has now been postponed. Diane Cleary, mother of boxing coach Callum Cleary, who is Gallagher's partner, was found dead last week at an address in Luton, England, following what police described as 'an altercation'.
Since then, 25-year-old Jacob Clark has been charged with murder and grievous bodily harm (GBH), with another woman in her 20s also hurt in the altercation.
Gallagher wrote on Facebook that Cleary was the 'most kind-hearted, caring, beautiful woman'.
She also said: "The love and support from everybody speaks volumes for how many people's lives you touched and how much every single person who met you loved you so much."
Gallagher's opponent Jones also posted on social media, writing: "Sometimes things in life are bigger than boxing and this is one of them.
"I just want to send my condolences to Tysie and her family at this moment."
Gallagher won the inaugural female British Junior-Featherweight title with a win over Stevi Levy last year and was set to make her second defence against Jones.
Gallagher and Jones' fight date has been tentatively rescheduled for April 4th in London, according to BBC Sport.
