Troy Williamson vacated his European super middleweight title on Monday.
The 34-year-old from Darlington, England,
ripped the British, Commonwealth and European titles from Callum Simpson in a big upset on December 20.
He hoped to parlay his impressive come from behind stoppage into something bigger.
However, any aspirations Williamson (22-4-1, 16 KOs) had of facing Osleys Iglesias for the vacant IBF title were dashed because he is
contractually bound to facing Simpson (18-1, 13 KOs) after Boxxer invoked a rematch, which is tentatively scheduled for May.
The EBU forbid direct rematches and so Williamson-Simpson 2 will move on with the British and Commonwealth titles on the line.
Williamson is already back in training and has recently been in Denmark, where he has been sparring with Jacob Bank, who faces former IBF 168-pound champ William Scull on Saturday.
The EBU acted quickly and have matched official challenger Jose Luis Navarro (17-2, 12 KOs) and No. 6 Pierre Hubert Di Bombe (24-2-1, 13 KOs) to fill the vacancy.
However, the No. 5 rated Jacob Bank (17-0, 9 KOs) has asked to be considered for the opportunity to face Navarro.
If Bank is victorious against Scull, he will face Navarro. In the event he loses, Di Bombe will step in.
