BOXXER have today announced Callum Simpson-Troy Williamson will headline their December 20 show from Leeds' First Direct Bank Arena for Simpson's European, British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles.

Their 12-round matchup sees champion Simpson (18-0, 13 KOs) return to South Yorkshire six months after a thrilling European title win where he recovered from two knockdowns to stop previously-unbeaten operator Ivan Zucco at Barnsley's Oakwell Stadium.

The show will be broadcast live and free-to-air on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer as the 29-year-old seeks to cap a memorable year with his first defence of European honours. He defended the Lonsdale belt with a second-round stoppage of Steed Woodall on January 11.

BOXXER founder and CEO Ben Shalom described it as a 'massive 50-50 domestic title clash between two elite fighters at the top of their game,' and teased more big announcements to be revealed in due course.

In a press release, Simpson was excited to test his skills against a 'tough fighter in Troy.

"Leeds is going to be bouncing with the Barnsley Army on December 20. This is my time and I'm ready to prove again why I'm one of the most exciting boxers in Britain right now."

Troy Williamson meanwhile, warned the champion against getting comfortable in his fourth headline show.

"Callum's had a great run but he's never faced anyone like me, I'm gonna ruin his Christmas. I've been in big fights, been the champion and know what it takes. This is my opportunity to show that I'm number one, to take the belts home with me.

Simpson, rated No. 5 by the IBF, No. 7 with the WBA and No. 10 with the WBC, has been vocal about bridging the gap to world-level honours before too much longer as he finds himself positioned nicely in an ever-changing weight class now Canelo Alvarez has been dethroned.

Prospective matchups against Kevin Lele Sadjo, former IBF beltholder William Scull and Euro-mandated challenger Hamzah Sheeraz have all fallen by the wayside in recent months, though Williamson (21-4-1, 15 KOs) is no slouch despite a deceptive record.

He was thoroughly outboxed by impending world title challenger Josh Kelly to lose his unbeaten 19-0-1 record in December 2022 and has suffered a trio of decision defeats by Caoimhin Agyarko, Ishmael Davis and Jahi Tucker since then.

However, he's found a new home at super middleweight after squeezing his muscular frame down to 154-pounds with inconsistent results and announced himself to the weight class with a ninth-round stoppage win over Mark Dickinson on Matchroom's September 6 show.
