Claressa Shields is set to make the first defense of her undisputed heavyweight title against two-division champion Lani Daniels on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, on DAZN.

Before Shields, a three-time undisputed champion and two-time Olympian, squares off against reigning IBF light heavyweight champion Daniels, there are four fights on the undercard, including the return of former middleweight champion Tony Harrison after more than a two-year absence. He’ll face Edward Ulloa Diaz in a 10-round middleweight bout.

Tony Harrison overcomes late knockdown to outpoint Edward Diaz

For the first time in over three years, Tony Harrison is back in the win column but it wasn’t without tense moments late.

Harrison overcame being knocked down in the ninth round to win a unanimous decision victory over Edward Diaz in their 10-round middleweight bout. Judge Vincent Santinio had it 98-91, while Gerard White scored it 97-92 and Rose Gross had it the closest between the three judges, scoring it 96-93.

Harrison (30-4-1, 21 KOs), who was fighting for the first time since 2023, largely outboxed a game Diaz, but the tide turned late in the ninth round. In the waning moments, Diaz caught Harrison with a big left hook that was followed by a big right hand that sent Harrison to the canvas. Harrison rose to his feet, and the bell rang to end the round.

Diaz (15-7, 12 KOs) came out looking to capitalize on the late knockdown and had Harrison on the ropes early. Harrison turned the tide back in his favor, as he was able to land sharp shots on the inside to thwart the rally from Diaz in the 10th round.

Harrison had success at both ranges for much of the fight, picking Diaz apart with sharp hooks and uppercuts on the inside and finding consistent success from the outside with a stiff jab.

Harrison outlanded Diaz 213 to 53, per CompuBox.

Pryce Taylor showboats his way to decision victory

Pryce Taylor was more apt to showboat than seek a stoppage victory over Robert Simms.

Regardless, the Brooklyn, New York, native handled his business, defeating Simms by unanimous decision. Judges Vincent Santino, Gerard White and Patrick Schmidt all scored the bout 80-72 for the heavyweight prospect.

Taylor (9-0, 6 KOs) routinely taunted and showboated Simms, but also landed the cleaner and more effective shots throughout the night as he stayed on the front foot. He also appeared to hurt Simms (12-5-1, 3 KOs) in the sixth round, but never stepped on the gas to get his overmatched opponent out inside of the distance.

Taylor had won four straight fights by stoppage before his shutout decision victory over Simms.

Worthington outworks Pietau to win interim title

Samantha Worthington’s pressure and work rate in the early rounds paved the way for her to stay undefeated, as she defeated Victoire Piteau by majority decision to nab the interim WBO junior welterweight title.

Judge Rose Gross had the widest scorecard, scoring it 99-91 for Worthington, while Gloria Martinez Rizzo had it 96-94. Pasquale Procopio scored the fight 95-95.

Worthington (12-0, 7 KOs) and Piteau traded blows throughout the fight. Early on, Worthington’s counter punching and body work paid dividends. In the later rounds, Piteau (14-3, 2 KOs) started to consistently land big shots to make a surge late. Ultimately, Worthington’s work in the early rounds was enough to nab her the interim title.

Katie Taylor is the undisputed junior welterweight champion.

Veyre dominates, wins WBC silver title with UD10 vs. Boudersa

Caroline Veyre delivered a dominant showing, thoroughly outboxing Licia Boudersa en route to a unanimous decision victory to win the WBC silver featherweight title in a WBC title eliminator. Judges Vincent Santino and Gerard White scored it 99-91, while Patrick Schmidt had it 98-92.

Veyre’s skills were on full display, as she used her angles, footwork and precision punching to land the bigger shots against Boudersa. Veyre (10-1, 0 KOs) outlanded Boudersa 158 to 60 in total punches and 105 to 32 in power shots.

The fight also got ugly at times, as referee Juergen Langos was forced to give numerous warnings. Boudersa suffered a nasty gash over her head and had noticeable swelling around her left eye from what appeared to be a headbutt in the ninth round.

Makled's masterful finish among other winners

In a six-round featherweight contest, Cameran Pankey (12-1, 4 KOs) extended his winning streak to three with a unanimous decision nod over Dominique Griffin (6-10-2, 2 KOs).

Jaquan McElroy (3-0, 1 KO) notched a points win over Joshua Flores (5-7, 2 KOs) during their four-round middleweight matchup.

Michigan light heavyweight Kahmel Makled (3-0, 3 KOs) knocked professional debutant Devario Hauser down three times before landing an impressive stoppage victory to continue his 100% knockout ratio in emphatic fashion.

Meanwhile, southpaw heavyweight Sardius Simmons (2-0, 1 KO) picked up where he left off on his own debut in the paid ranks last month, outpointing Demetrius Banks (13-17-2, 6 KOs) over four.
