Stephen Fulton: “I’m Enjoying Being Back Where I Belong, At The Top”
Stephen Fulton has learned to stop looking ahead and simply sit back and smell the flowers.

For practically every fighter, the moment they either pull off a win or come up short, the focus of fans and pundits immediately shifts to what's next. Fulton, after picking apart Brandon Figueroa a few days ago, is now in that very position.

There are a few names that make sense. Angelo Leo, Rafael Espinoza, and Nick Ball all hold world titles. Bruce Carrington is also another interesting name. Even a rematch with Naoya Inoue is now a feasible option.

Diving into the details of his next few moves, however, is the furthest thing from his mind.

“I will just let my team handle that at the moment,” said Fulton during an interview with FightHype.com. “I’m not worrying about anything right now. I’m enjoying being back where I belong at the top of my division.”

Dressed in jean shorts and customized boxing shoes made to look like timberlands, Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) shined at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Figueroa, who nearly beat Fulton a few years ago, fought like a man who was apathetic and stuck in the mud.

When he wanted, Fulton boxed beautifully from the outside. When he got tired of fighting a clean fight and wanted to get his hands dirty, he brutalized Figueroa on the inside.

Currently, the Philly star’s whereabouts are unknown but in all likelihood, he’s got his feet kicked up while sporting a gigantic smile with a drink in one hand and his newly won WBC title in another.

At this point, Fulton has competed in just two weight classes and is likely to move onto his third soon. When he does, he believes the success he’s enjoyed everywhere else will follow.

“Whatever division I stepped in I was number one. I was at the top of it. No one can take that away from me.”
