Statement Issued On Chris Eubank Jr's Welfare After Being Sent To Hospital Following Conor Benn Win
Boxxer founder and C.E.O, Ben Shalom, has issued a statement reassuring boxing fans that Chris Eubank Jr is “doing well and resting” after beating Conor Benn in their middleweight fight on Saturday night.

Eubank Jr weathered the expected early storm and seemed to be controlling the fiery Benn with an accurate jab and superior skills as the fight entered the middle rounds.

Given the fractious build-up, Benn was never going to go quietly. The action became increasingly violent as both men slowed and the two spent the second half of the fight involved in a toe-to-toe pitched battle.

Despite being clearly stung on more than one occasion, Eubank Jr pushed through the fatigue and asserted his dominance during the championship rounds to secure a deserved unanimous decision victory and provide a thrilling end to the Ring Magazine’s first ever boxing card.

Eubank Jr departed almost immediately after completing his post fight interview and headed directly to hospital rather than to the press conference.

Although Eubank Jr left the ring under his own steam, given the 35 year-old’s well documented - and costly - battle with the scales on Friday and the 170lb rehydration limit he had to meet on Saturday morning, there were justifiable worries about the toll the brutal twelve rounds had taken on him and at the post fight press conference, Benn mentioned that he believed Eubank Jr had suffered a broken jaw.

On Sunday morning, Shalom, issued a statement reassuring fans that Eubank Jr was well and that his trip to hospital was purely precautionary.

The statement read: “I’m pleased to confirm that Chris is doing well and currently resting. There is no truth to the rumours regarding a broken jaw.

"As part of his standard post-fight protocol, Chris went to hospital for precautionary checks to monitor his vitals and ensure everything is in order. They take these measures very seriously, given everything they have experienced in the past. This process is something they now prioritise after every fight.

“Chris and Conor gave absolutely everything in what was the biggest legacy fight of all time. With their fathers standing proudly behind them, it was a moment that will forever be stamped in sporting history.”
