Shane Mosley Jr. hasn’t fought in 17 months.
Jesus Ramos fought twice in 50 days earlier this year.
Mosley Jr. (22-4, 12 KOs) will aim to overcome inactivity and lean on experience to muster a win against the surging Ramos (23-1, 19 KOs) when they meet for the WBC interim middleweight title Saturday at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, as part of a PBC on Prime Video PPV.
"Ramos is a great young star and a formidable opponent. I’m looking forward to this championship fight," Mosley said during a press conference.
"It doesn't really matter if I'm his toughest opponent. We're gonna fight and give it our all and try to win. Everything that happened before doesn't matter. My experience can help me. I have to be at my best. He's a young, hungry fighter. So I have to be sharp."
After suffering a unanimous decision defeat against Jason Quigley in May 2021, Mosley has rebounded with five consecutive wins against the likes of Gabriel Rosado, D'Mitrius Ballard, and most recently in June 2024, versus Daniel Jacobs.
But the second-generation star has been sidelined ever since and hasn't been able to build any momentum.
"I've just been staying focused, staying committed and taking it one step at a time," said Mosley. "You just have to focus on what's in front of you and take the challenges as they come."
Ramos, meanwhile, has scored three straight stoppage wins since suffering the lone loss of his career in a close decision against
Erickson Lubin in September 2023. Ramos stopped former unified 154-pound titleholder Jeison Rosario in February and Guido Emmanuel Schramm in March.
The betting underdog Mosley realizes he's matched tough for this one, and that Ramos won't be anywhere near the same level of the past-their-prime foes he's beaten before.
"This is the biggest fight of my life," Mosley continued. "It's for the title. I've fought my whole career for this moment and I'm thankful for the opportunity. A win on December 6 makes me a champion and puts me in a conversation to fight other champions.
"My journey has fortified me, made me strong and more focused. I'm ready for this, gonna display great boxing and all of my skills."
