Shakiel Thompson produced a picture-perfect fourth-round stoppage win over David Benitez in their GBM Sports main event in Sheffield.
The event was streamed live on DAZN.
Thompson (14-0, 10 KOs) was accurate and stealth-like in his work, producing a third-round knockdown en route to his TKO victory a round later, keeping his perfect record and No. 9 world middleweight ranking with the WBO intact.
The first round was a comfortable one for Thompson, who used his jab and one-twos to score clean blows on his Argentine opponent. But the second round was full of controversy.
Midway through the round, Thompson landed very low on Benitez (11-10, 3 KOs), who crumpled to the canvas in serious pain, using a good chunk of the allotted five minutes' recovery time.
Benitez then went down again with under a minute left in the round after Thompson grazed him just behind the ear. Referee Steve Gray had to practically lift Benitez to his feet, deeming the infraction to be a minimal one.
In the third round, Benitez found himself on the floor again, but this time it was down to a perfectly-placed left hand to the body.
Benitez courageously made it to his feet but Thompson wrapped things up in the fourth stanza with a jab and left uppercut combination.
It wasn't the night Shakan Pitters (20-2, 6 KOs) hoped it would be - but he still walked away from the Canon Medical Arena with a win under his belt.
Pitters was supposed to headline the card against Daniel Blenda Dos Santos (22-1, 10 KOs) with the European light-heavyweight title on the line.
Dos Santos had to pull out of the contest after failing a fight-week medical while replacement opponent Lee Ingelrest (12-0-1, 4 KOs) was also nixed from the card after failing to adhere to weigh-in regulations.
In stepped experienced journeyman Bahadur Karami (4-24-4, 1 KO), but leaving the contest was its headline status and the opportunity to win the EBU title.
Nevertheless, Pitters, on the week he revealed the death of his father in January, boxed to orders and showed his class, not letting emotion get in the way of what could have been a tricky affair.
Pitters dominated the first round but it was in the second where things really came together for the Birmingham man.
After landing a series of piercing body shots and guard-breaking uppercuts, Pitters floored Karami with a perfect right hand.
Karami rose to his feet but gave the referee no option but to end the fight after failing to show any resistance to Pitters final sustained attack against the ropes.
"For me, the EBU title, it would've been the same result with Dos Santos. I'll get it for sure 100 percent," said Pitters after the fight.
