Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) is anticipating a return in December following right-hand surgery, while Lopez's immediate future is unknown.
Ryan Garcia’s preference all along was to fight Teofimo Lopez next, and not Devin Haney in a rematch.
During the promotional period of The Ring’s tripleheader event in New York’s Times Square in May, which featured Garcia vs. Rolando Romero, Haney vs. Jose Ramirez and Lopez vs. Arnold Barboza, it was Garcia and Lopez who frequently starred on stage by feuding.
With Haney moving on to face Brian Norman in November and his own upset loss to Romero, Garcia could get what he’s been looking for against the idle Lopez if a rematch doesn't materialize.
“I don't know what's going on with Teofimo Lopez. He's been quiet,” Garcia told The Ring. “If he wants to run it, he can get it. I've always liked that fight for myself. Our styles go well together. I seriously believe I would knock him out with my punch selection and output. With the way I throw punches, I would crack him. I'm definitely his kryptonite. I've been wanting that fight for a long time. I'm open to any challenge.”
Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) is anticipating a return in December following right-hand surgery, while Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs), The Ring and WBO junior welterweight champion, is still sitting on the sidelines without a return date or opponent following his unanimous decision against Barboza.
Garcia, who now competes as a welterweight, also said he’d like to fight Manny Pacquiao.
