Bill and Devin Haney questioned everything from Garcia’s physique to his voice while pointing out that Devin’s rival tested positive for Ostarine, a banned substance, following Garcia’s 12-round, majority-decision victory April 2024 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
on stage at Manhattan Center. He also questioned Devin Haney’s affiliation with Victor Conte and SNAC.
Conte has long operated SNAC, a Bay Area sports nutrition company that works with numerous boxers. Conte served four months in prison in 2005 for money laundering and steroid distribution as part of his plea agreement related to the infamous BALCO scandal.
“You’re trying to build your son up,” Garcia shouted at Bill Haney. “That’s what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to build your son up. You’re trying to bring back confidence in him. Hey, we all know about Victor Conte. Victor Conte’s the biggest cheater in the sport, and y’all be using SNAC and all that s--t. So, shut the f--k up! Shut the f--k up! I know you bought your little cheerleading squad to help you, but you still a bitch!”
Devin and Bill Haney repeatedly pressed Garcia as to why his body looked different during their open workouts Tuesday night at Manhattan Center than he appeared when fighting Haney 53 weeks ago.
“Your physique changed,” Devin Haney told Garcia. “You got [breasts] now. You ain’t got no muscle. His muscles gone. His voice is gone. This motherf---er’s gone. This motherf---er’s gone. He got off the PEDs and he can’t even talk. … Without that Ostarine, his voice don’t even sound the same.”
Garcia, 26, had been much more reserved throughout the promotion of this Ring event than he was Wednesday night. Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs, 1 NC) and Haney have agreed to fight again sometime in October if Garcia beats Rolando “Rolly” Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) and Haney (31-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) defeats Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs) in their 12-round welterweight fights Friday night (DAZN Pay-Per-View; $59.99 in the United States).
“I’ll tell you one thing – he’s in for a tough fight with Rolly Romero,” Bill Haney said. “It’s gonna be a tougher fight than we think. Because he’s a fraction of the person he was on April the 20th [2024].”
Garcia, of Victorville, California, dropped Haney three times – once apiece in the seventh, 10th and 11th rounds. Haney, of Henderson, Nevada, was still able to make their fight competitive on the scorecards.
The result of Garcia’s win was overturned to a no-contest for failing a test for performance-enhancing drugs. The New York State Athletic Commission also suspended Garcia for one year and fined him $1.2 million.
Neither Garcia nor Haney has fought since their high-profile clash. Garcia promised that Haney is in for a much more difficult fight versus Ramirez, a former WBC/WBO 140-pound champion, than DraftKings’ 12-1 odds suggest.
“[Bill Haney] was coming at my physique [on Tuesday night],” Garcia said. “But it’s all good. They were saying the same thing last time and they got their ass whooped last time, too. You gonna get your ass whooped again. And you better be careful because I know Jose hit hard. Jose got that left hook, too. Jose got that left hook, too, so you better be careful.”
