Ryan Garcia and promoter Oscar De La Hoya’s relationship continues to go south.
Last week, Garcia opened up to
The Ring about the b
roken state of his relationship with De La Hoya and Golden Boy, what led to the recent reignited feud and his plans to leave the company after one more fight.
Garcia is coming off a unanimous-decision defeat against
Rolando Romero in May and has instructed his handlers to move forward with setting up a rematch.
On Saturday, De La Hoya said he wants Garcia to move on from Romero and focus on new challengers such as Teofimo Lopez instead. De La Hoya said Garcia’s first fight against Romero, which featured him getting knocked down and little else, was dull, lacked entertainment and didn't call for a rematch.
On Sunday, Garcia posted a video of himself appearing to show him on a phone call with De La Hoya and pestered his estranged promoter.
“Don't ever hit me up unless you have a $20 million deal for me, OK, Oscar? Don't ever call me if you don't have a $20 million fight. You understand?" said Garcia.
Garcia told The Ring that Golden Boy recently gave him “the worst offer you can ever imagine” for his next fight.
Garcia underwent right-hand surgery for the second time in four years following the Romero fight and is preparing to return to the ring as early as December.
