Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez is taking a stay-busy fight on Sept. 12 against Hector Robles at the Polideportivo Alexis Arguello in Managua, Nicaragua, Güegüense Box Promotions announced Thursday.
Gonzalez (52-4, 42 KOs), a 38-year-old former four-division champion and pound-for-pound list mainstay, hasn't fought since last July when he scored a 10th-round technical knockout win against Robert Barrera during his bantamweight debut.
It was Gonzalez's first fight since dropping a majority decision against Juan Francisco Estrada in a December 2022 trilogy tilt.
Judging by the record of Robles (13-8-3, 4 KOs), the unknown Mexican doesn't appear to belong in the same ring with the future Hall of Famer, but Gonzalez is seeking to stay active in a second straight homecoming event.
