Rohan Polanco Out-Classes Quinton Randall, Easily Wins 10-Rounder On Zayas-Garcia Undercard
NEW YORK – Rohan Polanco couldn't knock out Quinton Randall on Saturday night, but he remained undefeated relatively easily.

Polanco was the more accurate, active puncher and completely controlled the action in their 10-round welterweight bout preceding Xander Zayas' 12-round points win over Jorge Garcia for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. All three judges – John Basile (97-93), Max De Luca (100-90) and Robert Perez (99-91) – scored their fight for the Dominican Republic’s Polanco.

Santo Domingo's Polanco improved to 17-0 (10 KOs). Randall (15-3-1, 3 KOs), of Katy, Texas, fought defensively throughout their bout and avoided getting knocked out, if nothing else.

It was clear once the bell rang to start the 10th and final round that Randall was primarily interested in going the distance with the highly regarded Polanco. Randall, who hasn't been knocked out as a pro, kept his distance over the final three minutes and did just that.

A left-right combination by Polanco caught Randall in an exchange with just over a minute remaining in the ninth round. Polanco's left landed as they wrestled for position on the inside a few seconds later.

Polanco's left landed and moved Randall into the ropes with about 35 seconds on the clock in the eighth round. Randall landed a right hand from long range that knocked Polanco backward earlier in that frame.

A right by Polanco knocked Randall into the ropes about 35 seconds into the fifth round.

Polanco drilled Randall with a straight right, and then a left-right combination that knocked Randall off balance in the fourth round. Randall shook his head to indicate he wasn't hurt by those punches, but did little to keep Polanco from strategically attacking him.

Randall hit Polanco after the bell to end the second round. Claudio went to Randall's corner to warn him after that foul, which Randall claimed was retaliation for Polanco pushing him once the bell sounded.
