Moses Itauma and
Dillian Whyte were both leaner than expected when they hit the scales ahead of Saturday night's
DAZN PPV main event at ANB Arena, Riyadh.
Itauma, who was 254lbs for his last fight against Mike Balogun in May, was just under ten pounds trimmer three months on as he tipped the scales at 245.5lbs at Friday's weigh-in.
After an exhaustive training camp in Portugal, Whyte, meanwhile, came in a pound lighter than the 20-year-old at 244.5lbs. That weight was drastically down from the 261.25lb figure he was against Ebenezer Tetteh in December.
The last time Whyte boxed in Saudi Arabia, against Mariusz Wach in December 2019, he was a staggering 271lbs, which was 26lbs 8oz heavier than he is now.
After the weigh-in had concluded, Itauma said: "I've been in training for 12 tough weeks. Honestly I just want to get to the easy bit, that's the fight. Obviously although we are two fighters, I have nothing but the utmost respect for Dillian. Nothing personal, just business."
When asked for a prediction, he added: "Come on, man: Moses Itauma victory."
Before that WBA featherweight champion
Nick Ball (22-0-1, 13 KOs) successfully made the 126-pound limit ahead of his world title defence against undefeated challenger
Sam Goodman (20-0, 8 KOs), which will serve as the co-main event.
Ball, who won the belt via a 12-round split decision against Raymond Ford in June last year, has made two successful defences so far and came in bang on at 126lbs for this one.
Goodman, the 26-year-old from Australia, was marginally lighter at 125lbs 1oz.
'Wrecking' Ball said: "I'm fully focused on Saturday night. As always, expect all-action from me."
Ford, who has moved up in weight since that defeat against Ball, missed the contracted weight of 130lb ahead of his 10-round clash with Abraham Nova.
Ford weighed in 0.3 pounds heavier, while Nova was almost a pound lighter at 129.1lbs, though their fight will still go ahead following negotiations between the two teams.
Ahead of the second heavyweight clash on Saturday night’s card,
Filip Hrgovic and
David Adeleye were surprisingly close in weight. Hrgovic, just over 250lbs for his fight against Joe Joyce in April, trimmed down to 241.9lbs for this one, his lightest for nearly six years.
Adeleye, meanwhile, came in at his career-heaviest weight as he broke the 240lbs barrier for the first time. He was 240lbs 5oz ahead of their 10-round encounter.
The weights for the rest of the Itauma-Whyte undercard:
