Pierce O’Leary, Liam Dillon To Contest Vacant European Junior-Welterweight Title On June 7
Last week, Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions had to pivot when Jarrell Miller pulled out of his heavyweight fight with Fabio Wardley and replaced the behemoth American with unbeaten Justis Huni at Portman Road, Ipswich, England, on June 7.

The British promoter is now filling up the undercard which will see Pierce O’Leary and Liam Dillon contest the vacant European junior welterweight title.

The winner must face defend the title against Spain's Jon Fernandez in the first defense of the title.

The prestigious title which has previously been worn by amongst others Junior Witter, who went on to become a world champion, was recently held by rising star Adam Azim, who made one defense before vacating.

Dalton Smith had been tabbed to face Fernandez to fill the vacancy on September 28, 2024, but an injury to Smith saw the fight bumped to December. Fernandez didn't want to wait that long and ultimately, Smith met Walid Ouizza, who he stopped in one-round in Nottingham, England in January. The Brit immediately vacated and is closing in one a world title fight.

O'Leary (16-0, 9 knockouts) has been a professional since 2019. The 25-year-old Dublin-born fighter moved through the ranks before claiming a WBC regional title in 2022.

He has since scored wins over Kane Gardner (UD 10), Hovhannes Martirosyan (KO 9) and Darragh Foley (UD 10).

Dillon (15-2-1, 3 KOs) turned professional in 2017. He went on to win the Southern Area junior lightweight title but was held to a draw by Youssef Khoumari (D 10) for the English title but managed to beat Dennis Wahome (MD 10) for the same belt.

The 29-year-old from London took the unbeaten record of Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab (MD 12) and upset touted Olympian Qais Ashfaq (SD 12) for the British title before losing it to Commonwealth beltholder Reece Bellotti (UD 12) and to Ryan Garner (UD 10) though he has since bounced back with two wins.
