In his 10th and final fight at the arena, more than another other fighter, Garcia (38-4, 22 KOs) backed up Gonzalez (22-5-1, 7 KOs) early with a series of power punches that looked to hurt the upset-minded challenger.
While Gonzalez was able to hang tough for rounds two and three, Garcia landed a pitch-perfect left hook early in round four that put Gonzalez down hard, ending the bout quickly and in dramatic fashion. The stoppage came at 45 seconds into the round. After the fight, an emotional Garcia kept the door open for a potential return to the ring.
