MONTREAL – Osleys Iglesias lived up to his billing as "The Tornado" on Thursday night, battering Vladimir Shishkin from pillar to post until he forced an eighth round stoppage in their IBF super middleweight title eliminator.

There was no getting to know you with each fighter looking to take the other's head off from the opening bell.

It continued to be a theme throughout the fight, but Iglesias caused more damage because of his power, which wore down the game Russian.

Late in the third round a two-punch combination made Shishkin's legs dip and his face was starting to mark up.

By the fifth, Iglesias' ability to hurt Shishkin created clear separation between the fighters. However, Shishkin, who had Tyson Fury's trainer Sugar Hill in his corner, continued to fight back in spite of the onslaught.

Iglesias, who had four fights last year that totaled nine rounds, was steadfast in his desire to give the crowd the knockout they wanted.

Finally, after cutting Shishkin in round seven, he hurt him in round eight and then followed with a flurry that prompted referee Mike Griffin to intervene at 1:28.
