O’Shaquie Foster is ready to jump at another big-time opportunity in his next fight.
Jazza Dickens, the junior lightweight division's WBA champion, lost out on the chance to defend his title against Hayato Tsutsumi due to his opponent's
orbital bone fracture. Now that he’s been officially removed from the December 27 "Ring V" card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the 34-year-old has to figure out his next move.
Foster has an idea.
“Let’s make it happen,” Foster wrote on his X account. “And I’ll come to Europe.”
The Ring’s No. 1 130-pounder and WBC champion is fresh off a
lopsided win over Stephen Fulton on December 6.
Initially, their matchup was considered too close to call. Foster (24-3, 12 KOs), however, easily outboxed him from the outside. For the win, Foster was awarded the WBC interim lightweight title, a belt that was arbitrarily put on the line when Fulton arrived two pounds overweight. Still, even with the option to move up, Foster opted to vacate that belt and hold onto his 130-pound championship.
Dickens, to his credit, isn’t interested in holding onto his title and making easy defenses. Prior to Tsutsumi pulling out, Dickens, according to the odds, was a massive underdog.
Against Foster, that figures to be the case again. Still, that won’t stop Dickens (36-5, 15 KOs) from picking up the phone and attempting to make the fight happen.
“Let’s talk,” Dickens replied to Foster on his X account.
