Edmondson stung by Lapin in 10-rounder

In a battle of two 11-0 light-heavyweight contenders, Daniel Lapin narrowly edged past British champion Lewis Edmondson after a slow-burning 10-round contest.

Two 96-94 scorecards cancelled out a 95-95 card, meaning the Ukrainian notched a hard-fought majority decision to make a successful first defence of his IBF Inter-Continental light-heavyweight title, while also clinching the vacant WBO International strap.

The physical differences between them was immediately apparent, Lapin (12-0, 4 KOs) towering over the Southampton man armed with a five-inch reach advantage he looked to quickly dictate behind.

Looking to counter on the back foot, Edmondson (11-1, 3 KOs) had him pressed up against the ropes during a tense opening stanza, though the older man's advances were met with cleaner counter-punching in round two as he was unsuccessful trying to close distance.

They traded hooks up close in the second, Edmondson getting increasingly loose with his movement by the end of the third and it showed -- landing a nice right hand with a minute left in the fourth.

The fight hadn't caught fire by the halfway stage, infrequent flurries of success from both but little else of note as Lapin's inability to establish his jab -- coupled with Edmondson embracing gritty exchanges at close-range -- meant this was a messy watch.

Edmondson finished the seventh stronger and that foreshadowed a frantic eighth: Lapin was caught in the ropes twice as they bundled into one another up close, referee Marcus McDonnell warning the British champion after connecting on an illegal punch.

The 29-year-old pushed his Ukrainian visitor backwards while whipping power punches, while Lapin replied by digging downstairs with continued success.

He began the ninth with an inspired combination as the crowd noise swelled for the big southpaw, though the result was genuinely in the balance after 30 minutes couldn't separate them.

Dacres Beats Sirenko By Decision

Solomon Dacres (10-1, 3 KOs) hadn't been in the ring since a devastating first-round knockout defeat to David Adeleye at the end of 2024, but he bounced back in style against Vladyslav Sirenko (22-1, 19 KOs) at Wembley.

The scores read 99-91, 98-92, 99-92 in favour of Dacres.

It was clear from the beginning that Sirenko would do his best to pressure Dacres as much as he possibly could. The Birmingham man constantly had to throw jabs and right hands off his back foot throughout the first few rounds.

The second round saw Sirenko land multiple clubbing blows to the side of Dacres head. But the home fighter would come back with a meaty right hand over the Ukrainian's jab.

As the rounds went on, Dacres became more comfortable with the pace and began landing successful counters as Sirenko came forward with a weak guard.

Both men looked exhausted by the time the seventh round came. Dacres, whose feet was his best weapon up to that point, had done plenty of moving, while Sirenko's ability to cut off the ring would wane.

Dacres kept things tight and targeted Sirenko's body in the eighth. Sirenko had yet to land anything of note all fight, but his come-forward style was enough to keep Dacres moving and guessing.

In the penultimate round of the fight, Dacres landed his best shot of the night, a straight right hand which snapped Sirenko's head back.

The final stanza saw Dacres evade much of Sirenko's work and he even landed some more heavy artillery himself with a left-hook-right-hand combo midway through the round. By the time the bell rang it was clear for all to see that Dacres had done more than enough to get the decision.

Hamed Outpoints Gregores

Aadam Hamed (6-0, 3 KOs) maintained his unbeaten record with a four-round points win over Ezequiel Gregores (3-25). Son of legend Naseem, Hamed made his debut on Usyk vs. Dubos I in August 2023, stopping Vojtech Hrdy in the first round.

Tonight he went the distance against journeyman Gregores, who's been in with Campbell Hatton, Rylan Charlton and Michael Gomez Jr previously. A veteran of the game at this point, the Argentine used his craft and guile to reach the end of the fight without taking too much punishment.

Guruli Stops Francis In Five

Georgian Lasha Guruli (2-0, 1 KO) won his second professional bout via TKO5 after James Francis' corner pulled him out at the start of the round. Guruli had dominated every exchange from the opening bell, using jabs and right hands to offset his overmatched opponent's rhythm.

In the fourth round, Guruli landed two notable right hands which had Francis (7-2, 1 KO) backing onto the ropes and his team decided they wanted to see no more before the fifth could officially get underway.
