Oleksandr Usyk teases plan to become four-time undisputed champion
Oleksandr Usyk's next move remains uncertain, though the 38-year-old reaffirmed his desire to continue boxing and reclaim the distinction as undisputed king once more.

Speaking in Bangkok, Thailand at the opening ceremony of the WBC's 63rd annual convention, The Ring and unified world heavyweight champion naturally was complementary to one organisation that hasn't stripped him of his title.

"The green belt is always my favorite," he said. "I [should] have four belts, some people are saying I'm not undisputed champion anymore. Well, that is only temporary."

Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) willingly relinquished his WBO belt last month, which saw new interim champion Fabio Wardley upgraded to full world titleholder just 23 days after a dramatic 11th-round stoppage win over Joseph Parker.

After snubbing a potential future fight with fast-rising British contender Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs), the two-division champion's advisor Serhii Lapin told The Ring that the Parker-Wardley winner would be a frontrunner for his return.

Still rehabbing from a back injury after his fifth-round knockout win over Daniel Dubois in their July 19 rematch, the expectation was then that he'd defend his undisputed status against Wardley in the first quarter of 2026.

Instead, as he did last year a month after outpointing Tyson Fury in their May 2024 meeting, Usyk opted to drop a belt and pursue an immediate rematch back in Riyadh in December.

Now, Usyk's options are again open without a pressing mandatory demand to fulfil and his team can assess the divisional landscape in the coming months knowing their man might be ageing, but remains the very best.
