Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois both enjoyed a 2024 to remember, one year after their own head-to-head meeting.
The two heavyweights who currently own all the divisional hardware are well represented, with nominations in multiple categories for this year's The Ring Magazine Awards.
Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), The Ring No. 2 heavyweight contender and reigning IBF titlist, received four nominations (Male Fighter, Knockout, Comeback, Upset). The red-hot Londoner also scored knockout wins in two of the nominated Event of the Year entries.
His year to remember followed a mixed bag in 2023 where he suffered a ninth-round knockout to Ukraine’s Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) in their Ring/WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight championship clash.
Usyk twice defended The Ring heavyweight championship—both in wins over The Ring No. 1 heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). His win in their first fight crowned the division’s first undisputed champ since 1999.
The pair of victories put Usyk in the running for his second Male Fighter of the Year award. His first clash with Fury also earned nominations for Best Fight, Round (ninth) and Event.
Below are the nominees for each of the ten categories. All winners will be revealed during the inaugural ceremony for The Ring Magazine Awards this Saturday at Old Royal Naval College in London, England.
