Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather Agree to Terms on Spring 2026 Exhibition
Two weeks after an improbable Nov. 14 exhibition between Gervonta Davis vs. Jake Paul was announced, an even wilder matchup has been set for spring of next year.

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather, all-time greats separated by a decade in age, will do battle in an exhibition that has been described as "one of the most significant and compelling boxing events in history'.

TMZ Sports' Michael Babock was first to report the news, adding the pair had already signed fight contracts, although no date or location has been announced yet.

"This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen," Tyson told TMZ. "However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable. This fight is as unpredictable as it gets.

"I still can't believe Floyd wants to really do this. It's going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed. and it's happening."

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) retired from professional boxing in 2005, the same month Mayweather had just secured a world title in his third weight class by stopping Arturo Gatti for the WBC 140-pound crown.

Tyson engaged in an eight-round exhibition with fellow Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020. The itch evidently remained, as he returned in a sanctioned bout against Jake Paul last November, suffering an eight-round points loss.

Mayweather called a halt to his own illustrious career after stopping former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor to finish a perfect 50-0 in August 2017, though he also has engaged in exhibitions since then. The optimistic thinking behind Tyson-Mayweather is that it will be a better spectacle given they're closer in age.

There are no details about a contracted weight. There is more than a 60-pound discrepancy between them. Tyson weighed 228.5 pounds against Paul, while Mayweather tipped the scales at 160 for his most recent outing against John Gotti III in August of last year.

None of that appears to bother the 48-year-old, who was quoted as saying: "I've been doing this for 30 years, and there hasn't been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy.

"You already know that if I am going to do something, it's going to be big and legendary. I'm the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want."
