Mike Mazzulli has confirmed that his 10-year run as president of the
Association of Boxing Commissions will come to an end in a few months.
Mazzulli informed ringsidepress.com recently that he won’t seek re-election once this term expires. A new president will be chosen at the ABC’s 37th annual convention, scheduled for Aug. 4-6 in New Orleans.
Mazzulli plans to remain director of the Mohegan Tribe’s Department of Athletic Regulation, which oversees boxing and mixed martial arts events at Mohegan Sun, a casino and resort in Uncasville, Connecticut. He has held that position since June 2003.
A vocal advocate for fighter safety and ensuring that boxers participate in that process, Mazzulli was instrumental in allowing Showtime to televise boxing cards consistently from Mohegan Sun Arena during the most restrictive portion of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and '21.
