Michael Conlan will return to action this summer, likely in a European featherweight title fight against Cristobal Lorente, but the Irishman is already looking at big fights beyond that.
Conlan (19-3, 9 KOs) returned to the ring last month following a 15-month period of reflection in which he contemplated retirement from boxing altogether.
He beat Asad Asif Khan on points in an eight-rounder down at the Brighton Centre on the Harlem Eubank-Tyrone McKenna undercard, and his fight with Lorente was all but confirmed in the ring afterwards.
But Conlan has stated numerous times since returning that he wants to win a world title before finally calling it a day, and there are some big non-title fights still out there for him too.
His promoter Kalle Sauerland, in an interview with The Ring, confirmed he would be fighting again this summer, likely in July or August, but after that, fights with the likes of Josh Warrington (31-4-1, 8 KOs) and Leigh Wood (28-3, 17 KOs) could be on offer.
"I think Mick will be out over the summer, not in June. Slightly later than June," Sauerland said.
"Similar to the Catterall fight [For Harlem Eubank], we've had early flirtations. I think [Warrington] is a good fight for Mick.
"I think the Leigh Wood rematch is the one that Mick desperately wants as well. So there's a lot of storylines for Mick. And if that's around world-level or whether it's the European title, brilliant.
"But I'd say, you know, if you look at Mick's CV, it would almost be a boxing crime for him to retire without having won a world title.
"If I go back to what he's done for the sport in Ireland and in other places, you know. He's done big numbers in the US as well."
Conlan signed a promotional deal with Sauerland's Wasserman Boxing earlier this year after spending the majority of his professional boxing career with Top Rank.
As a result, Conlan fought Khan on terrestrial TV, namely Channel 5, and that will be the case when he fights once again in several months.
Sauerland notes the numbers Conlan pulled in on his Channel 5 debut were impressive, something which will help raise the profiles of the younger, lesser-known names fighting under the Wasserman banner.
"Mick Conlan also did great numbers for us in his sort of comeback, co-feature fight, which went very well as well," Sauerland added.
"So, you know, it's something which reaches a lot of people that don't normally watch boxing, but also is a great springboard for younger fighters and because of Mick's situation as well, it's a great springboard to put your name out there because it does massive numbers."
