Much like the father and son duo of Lebron and Bronny James are starring in Los Angeles for the Lakers, boxing will enjoy the same when Jimuel Pacquiao, the son of
Manny Pacquiao, makes his pro debut on November 29 at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California.
Although Manny won’t be fighting –
he’s set to return to the ring once more at the age of 47 in January – the Hall of Fame fighter will be ringside for the
United States debut of his promotional company, MPP, to watch his eldest son take on fellow debutant Brendan Lally in a four-round lightweight bout as the co-main event.
Jimuel plans to make it a momentous end of the year for the family with a win and by making his legendary dad a grandfather for the first time. Jimuel and his fiancé are expecting the birth of their child later this year.
Like his father, the 24-year-old Jimuel trains at Wild Card with coach Marvin Somodio, who’s been a longtime assistant for Manny.
The main event for the evening features Lorenzo Parra (23-1-1, 17 KOs) and Elijah Pierce (21-2, 17 KOs) in a
12-round featherweight fight.
In separate action, battle-tested, career-long contender Luis Arias (22-5, 11 KOs) meets Lazaro Lorenzana (17-0, 12 KOs) in a middleweight matchup.
