Former world champion Liam Smith was very proud of the performance by his younger brother, Callum Smith, in last Saturday's big decision win over Olympic medalist Joshua Buatsi.
Liam was ringside at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, as he watched his brother go to war with Buatsi for twelve hard rounds.
Callum came away with a hard-fought decision win and placed himself back in position for a potential world title shot in the near future.
"Horrible to watch for a brother in a fight like that. I know what we signed up for. Joshua Buatsi is a tough, strong man... twelve hard rounds at the pace and taking the shots that they were taking. I could not be prouder," Liam Smith told Ring Magazine.
"They said he was done. He lost to two special fighters. I'd like to see him back in the ring with two of them on the back of that, because those twelve rounds with Joshua Buatsi, at that pace, will do him a world of good. He's got great momentum now."
"He's not an old man, he hasn't had a tough career. He's had two losses, to Canelo and Beterbiev. People always give him stick that he needs to fight more, but it hasn't been his fault. Now he's got momentum."
