Liam Cameron Reveals Ben Whittaker Contract Dispute: 'We Signed For 12 Rounds, Now They Want 10'
LIAM CAMERON has revealed an incredible contractual dispute ahead of his rematch with Ben Whittaker, claiming that Boxxer are attempting to change their fight from 12 to 10 rounds.

But the 34-year-old from Sheffield insists: “I am not budging.”

The British light-heavyweights are scheduled to meet for the second time on Easter Sunday, six months on from their initial encounter which ended with a tumble over the top rope and a technical draw after six in Riyadh.

But now ‘Cannonball’ Cameron says that Whittaker’s side are trying to move the goalposts on the initial contract and even insisted that his attempts to raise the matter verbally have been shut down.

“There’s a mess about with contracts that nobody has let me speak about,” Cameron said on Talksport.

“We’ve signed for a 12-round fight and they are trying to push it for a 10-rounder. They are doing everything they can but I’m not budging. I’m having a 12-round fight.

“I tried to mention it on Gloves Are Off, they didn’t let me speak about it and on Sky Sports they didn’t air my interview.”

Cameron surprised many with his performance in their first encounter when he gave significant favourite Whittaker all he could handle until the bizarre finish came at the end of the sixth.

He also believes a 12-round fight suits him against Whittaker, who has only been beyond the eighth round once in his career to date.

Cameron added: “I signed for a 12-round fight and when I was signing my contract I thought ‘he could barely get through five rounds, this is weird’.

“A couple of weeks went by and they tried to send another contract for a 10-rounder so that shows me the confidence levels. I’m ready for 15 rounds.

“It’s signed for 12 rounds. There has been a mistake there... When I signed it I thought ‘12-rounder? That suits us, that. They must be mad’, So we’ve signed it and sent it back and now they’ve said ‘can we do a 10-rounder now?’"

When asked if the contract has been signed on Whittaker’s side too, Cameron added: “Yeah, yeah. My promoter [Frank Warren] is saying that we’re not budging.”

The Ring reached out to Whittaker’s management and his promoter Ben Shalom but neither were available for a reply.
