Keyshawn Davis believes he may be the one who can lure Vasiliy Lomachenko into one more fight.
Lomachenko, the IBF lightweight champion, is noncommittal toward continuing his career. Lomachenko, 37, has not fought since scoring a stoppage win against George Kambosos Jr. in May.
The Ukrainian three-division champion passed on a pitting against the WBA lightweight title holder Gervonta Davis, which was originally slated for November. The discussions broke off in July, and not much else has been revealed into Lomachenko’s plans for 2025 ever since.
Keyshawn Davis beat Lomachenko countryman and Olympics teammate Denys Berinchyk for the WBO lightweight title he now holds in February.
Davis believes he can lure his Top Rank promotional mate for the last dance.
“Lomachenko has had an amazing career,” Davis told The Ring in an interview. “He has done a lot and enough for the sport. He can just retire and call it quits. If he wants to give me the opportunity, I will be grateful and appreciative of the opportunity, that he went out on his last fight against me. That's big and would speak a lot. He can fight big names like Shakur Stevenson and Gervonta Davis. I'm a big name as well. It would make a lot of business sense against me as well.”
Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) wants a busy 2025 campaign, with or without Lomachenko.
“I want to return real soon, before the summertime,” said Davis. “I want to fight three more times this year. Y'all are going to see me a lot more this year.”
