Katie Taylor noncommittal on retirement, but final bout in Ireland also possible
It appears the spirited rivalry between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano has come to an end after fighting a third time last weekend to with the former sweeping their series.

The first two hotly contested installments in 2022 and '24 made their third tilt pale in comparison, and now the undisputed super lightweight champion Taylor is left re-evaluating her career at 39.

Taylor (25-1, 9 KOs) has been contemplating retirement recently but is also considering an official swan song and homecoming at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.

“I don't know. I'm just going to enjoy this victory right now, sit back, reflect and then I'll make a decision and that's it,” Taylor said after beating Serrano by majority decision.

“I'm just so grateful for Amanda Serrano. What an amazing champion. And we created history together three times. My name will always be embedded with hers forever. I'm very happy about that. What we've been able to create over these last few years has been unbelievable. It's amazing to have a rival like that in the sport.”

Taylor executed an educated attack against Serrano and didn’t engage in a brawl like their previous two fights to sneak by for a third time.

“The whole game plan was to not let her feet set,” said Taylor. “I knew I was capable of a performance like that in the other two fights as well, but I just got caught up in a bit of a war. I'm so happy that I was able to stay disciplined and just outbox her.

“I thought I showed a very smart performance, a very clever performance. This performance I knew I was capable of against Amanda. The two fights previously ended up as complete wars and I came out of the ring battered and bruised, and I'm thinking, 'What?'

“My footwork was causing her trouble, and she wasn't able to set her feet. I'm not sure what was going through her mind. But I think I just made the fight a bit easier for myself.”

If Taylor does indeed have one more fight left in her, Chantelle Cameron (21-1, 8 KOs) remains the best option.

Cameron handed Taylor the lone loss in May 2023 by majority decision, and Taylor avenged the defeat six months later with a majority decision of her own.

“I think Chantelle has to see if she can sell out a 1,000-seat arena first,” said Taylor. “I don't think she can sell out any stadium at all. I think I made her more money than she really deserves.

“These people are spending their hard-earned money to go over and support me. It just means the world, honestly. I can't believe that this is my life. I’m looking back on the whole journey. What an absolutely amazing life. These are nights that I dreamed of as a kid and sitting here again as a winner. I'm so happy, so grateful.”
