Joshua Buatsi vs. Zach Parker undercard results
MANCHESTER, England – Joshua Buatsi and Zach Parker are set to meet in an important light heavyweight encounter at Co-op Live Arena on Saturday night on DAZN.

Before the British contenders climb between the ropes, there is a lengthy undercard and a series of other significant 175 pound match-ups.

Below we round up all the action from the event:

CAMERON THUNDERS ON

Liam Cameron can add another chapter to his remarkable comeback story after beating Troy Jones over 10 hard rounds.

In April, Cameron (24-7-1, 10 KOs) was comprehensively stopped in the second round of his rematch with Ben Whittaker. Facing Jones (13-2, 6 KOs) on such a high profile, light heavyweight-focused event offered the 35-year-old the perfect route back to prominence.

In May, Jones lost his undefeated record to Ezra Taylor, but the setback didn’t sap the former English champion’s ambition. He initially leapt at the chance to fight Oleksandr Usyk’s unbeaten protege, Daniel Lapin, on this show, but the Ukrainian’s withdrawal through injury opened the door for Cameron.

He took full advantage.

Jones’ jab was the most eye catching weapon over the opening rounds. The two fell into regular clinches, and Cameron enjoyed brief moments of success. But whenever the two stood off each other and boxed, Jones controlled the action with his lead left.

Cameron did land enough to leave Jones’ left eye looking sore and swollen and got the better of the inside action in the third.

Cameron began to score with a left hook to head and body in the fourth but, spurred on by the sight of blood pouring from the Sheffield man’s nose, Jones took the fight to him and began to look like the boss. A well picked right uppercut-left hook combination found the mark, and he ended the round on top.

Cameron is a tough man and he began to turn the tide in the sixth. He couldn’t miss with short uppercuts as Jones gave up his advantages and tried to work inside. His left eye began to look angrier and his own nose began to bleed.

Both fighters knew they could ill afford a second consecutive defeat. Jones received a warning when a number of left hooks to the body slipped below the belt line, but he continued to go to the body as his jab became less and less of a factor. Cameron’s shorter, sharper punches continued to find the mark regularly.

It felt as if the final round could prove critical. Jones pushed forward from the start, held his feet and threw. Cameron tried to go with him but just couldn't match his work rate.

The fight went to the scorecards, and Cameron was awarded a unanimous decision. The scores were 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94.

BILLY DENIZ SETTLES GRUDGE

Stories and rumours about a heated sparring session between Billy Deniz and Ezra Arenyeka have circulated the Manchester boxing scene ever since the two were dragged apart after six rounds – or four, depending on who you believe – a couple of years ago.

On Saturday, the light heavyweight prospects finally got to settle their differences. There were no punches after the bell, no leg kicks, and the two won’t need to settle matters in the car park.

The awkward Arenyeka was able to lull Olympic silver medalist Ben Whittaker to sleep over 10 rounds in June of last year but struggled with Deniz, who got better throughout the eight-round contest and thoroughly deserved the 79-74 verdict he was awarded.

Not scoring any points for originality, Arenyeka (14-2, 11 KOs) attempted to slap Deniz (14-0, 5 KOs) with an egg at Thursday’s press conference. The usually fiery Deniz refused to rise to the bait and carried that composure into the ring despite a dancing, posing Arenyeka doing his level best to avoid contact during a strange opening round.

Deniz stayed loose and managed to get his feet closer in the second but loaded up with single shots. The unorthodox, awkward Arenyeka slipped, slid, and answered with the cleaner, more eye catching punches. But Deniz, who had former Ring Magazine Trainer of the year Joe Gallagher in his corner, smartly took some weight off his shots in the third and upped his output.

Those tactics helped him to close the distance, and he appeared to be on the verge of a breakthrough when he wheeled away from a fourth round clinch with blood streaming from a cut over his right eye after a clash of heads.

Deniz dealt with the cut well. He relied on speed and reflexes rather than power and the tactics helped him to find the mark more frequently. Arenyeka still scored with counter shots and the occasional sweeping hook, but now he was the one struggling to hunt down a moving target.

Forced to press the fight, Arenyeka quickly ran out of ideas. Deniz boxed beautifully during the seventh and eighth and passed the first genuine test of his career with flying colours.
