ORLANDO – You wouldn’t have been able to tell which fighter moved up in weight for the main event Saturday night.
Lenier Pero and
Jordan Thompson both tipped the scales on Friday for their 10-round heavyweight contest at Caribe Royale. Pero weighed 242 pounds, while Thompson was 238.
Thompson, who was a towering cruiserweight at 6-foot-6, will step back into the squared circle for the first time in over two years. He will also compete above the cruiserweight limit of 200 pounds for the first time since 2016.
Pero, a 2016 Olympian for Cuba, was the lightest he’s been since 2022.
