It was a rough day at the scales for the final ProBox TV show of 2024.
Three undercard fighters missed weight, though Jonhatan Cardoso and Eduardo Ramirez both came correct for their main event. Cardoso (17-1, 15 knockouts) was 134.4 pounds, while Ramirez (28-4-3, 13 KOs) checked in right at the 135-pound lightweight limit.
Their scheduled 10-round lightweight contest will air live on ProBox TV's app this Wednesday, beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET from ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida.
Luis Nunez (19-0, 13 KOs) failed on two separate tries to make the 128-pound contract limit for his ten-round heat versus Leonardo Baez. Dominican Republic's Nunez was officially 129.6 pounds, which he weighed after initially hitting the scales at 130.4 pounds. Mexico's Baez (21-5, 12KOs) was 126.8 pounds on the first try.
Katsuma Akitsugi (11-0 2 KOs) also missed weight, and is no longer eligible to win a regional bantamweight title previously at stake.
The all-action Japanese prospect from Los Angeles—affectionately known as 'El Cuete Japonecito' ("The Japanese Firecracker")—could only get down to 118.2 after initially weighing 119 pounds. He will face the Philippines' Aston Palicte (28-6-1, 23 KOs). who was 117.4 pounds for their ten-round bantamweight contest.
Among the preliminary undercard bouts is light heavyweight prospect Dante Benjamin (9-0-1, 7 KOs), who will face a much heavier foe. Benjamin was 173 pounds, well under the divisional limit. the same cannot be said for Aaron Casper (7-7-2), who was a beefy 177.6 pounds after he weighed 178.2 on his first try.
