Jonas-Price Undercard: Artingstall Seals British Featherweight Title, Zapotoczna Stuns Watson
ROYAL ALBERT HALL, LONDON -- Karriss Artingstall and Jasmina Zapotoczna were crowned new champions at featherweight and flyweight respectively in contrasting 10-round contests, on the Natasha Jonas vs. Lauren Price undercard.

97-92, 98-91 and 96-93 were the scores after ten rounds as Artingstall (7-0, 1 KO) scored a second-round knockdown and proved a worthy winner, ultimately crowned the inaugural British featherweight champion following a gruelling tussle with one-time world featherweight title challenger Raven Chapman (9-2, 1 KO).

The full five-fight card, headlined by Natasha Jonas vs. Lauren Price, is being televised on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports+ across the United Kingdom.

To kick off Sky's first all-women's card since October 2022, highly-rated prospect Francesca Hennessy improved to 6-0 with a composed points win against her most seasoned opponent yet.

Artingstall aces Chapman test
In the final action before two world championship contests, Artingstall (7-0, 1 KO) made it clear that she doesn't want to hang around domestic level much longer after ending a 14-month layoff to stay perfect in the paid ranks.

Hinting at speaking to her team before assessing the options with an eye on manoeuvring into world title contention, she revealed an eagerness to rematch WBC champion Skye Nicolson - four years after beating her in the 2021 Olympic semis.

Chapman began well here, digging down to the body and displaying precisely the purpose she didn't showcase last time out against Nicolson five months prior.

Just as the commentary team, including Nicolson herself, said Artingstall couldn't find her rhythm or distance, Chapman's stinging second-round was rendered useless as a straight left hand floored her in the final seconds.

A flash knockdown magnified by poor position and a well-timed shot, Raven recovered well in the third before they both came out swinging in the fourth.

Uppercuts worked well in the fifth, Artingstall landed the better work a round later while both felt the pace through seven. Chapman's pressure persisted in round eight, backing up the Macclesfield resident with flurries, body work and uppercuts, before a physical ninth as they jostled for superiority in centre ring. It was futile.

Zapotoczna snatches Euro gold
Fresh from an upset win over then-unbeaten contender Maisey Rose Courtney last summer, Jasmina Zapotoczna (9-1) backed it up with a 10-round split decision nod (93-97, 96-95, 96-95) to earn European flyweight gold from Chloe Watson (8-1).

She cited her ability to continue moving and maintain distance after banking an exhausting training camp, though boos reverberated around the iconic venue upon hearing the first card in her favour.

Watson fired off combos from the off, Zapotoczna jabbed from her back foot as referee Kieran McCann warned the champion pulling the head down at close-range.

You could already see from the first stanza this pattern would persist, volume vs. accuracy and what the judges favoured. Watson threw punches in bunches, Zapotocozna's singles landed in reply but didn't do enough to stifle that pressure.

Far busier, the Wakefield-based challenger landed downstairs well in the third before being pinged back and there was more where that came from in a fiery fourth. She needed to move more and time her entries better as they entered the second-half, enjoying a better sixth while close-range exchanges were never far.

Both corners made themselves heard in the seventh, aware this back-and-forth remained up for grabs, though Watson appeared to take over in the eighth - another McCann warning notwithstanding.

She appeared to sting Zapotoczna with an uppercut which prompted a snake-bitten response, then a purposeful forward flurry saw the challenger wobbled against the ropes - which happened again early in the ninth.

Read the riot act a minute into the final stanza, Chloe was fortunate to escape a point deduction but failed to utilise her pressure effectively enough as Zapotoczna boxed-and-moved away from danger en route to a surprise victory.

Hennessy bosses it in opener
To kick off the night's five-fight card, this was an evening for Francesca Hennessy to enjoy as she successfully defended her WBA Intercontinental super-bantamweight title with a UD8 (80-72) win over Gemma Ruegg (8-15-1, 1 KO).

After markedly tougher tests against Dorota Norek and Ana Karla Vaz De Moraes in the second-half of 2024, the 20-year-old dealt with confusion and opposition changes well, winning with ease against a seasoned 21-fight pro.

Her left hand landed early and often, as the youngster remained unafraid to stand-and-trade or brawl whenever the opportunity presented itself. Body-then-left combinations were a staple of her attacks, Ruegg too slow and unable to deter Hennessy from throwing flurries, much to the crowd's enjoyment.

She was styling on the 40-year-old in the fourth, as her older brother Michael Jnr and dad Mick threw punches with her ringside, while a sweeping left hook punctuated successful work to finish the sixth.

The doctor inspected Ruegg's eye before the start of the seventh, though she managed to hear the final bell. Skye Nicolson, a friend and sparring partner of Hennessy, was complimentary post-fight and said:

"All of this ring time is good in building her, she's a future superstar of the sport, adapts and gets on with it. Gemma is very tough and gives hard work, Fran made it easy."
