Jermall Charlo claims that he’s back both mentally and physically. But while that remains to be seen, the trash-talking version of himself seems to be alive and well.

For the first time in almost two years, and only the second time in five, Charlo will officially make his way back to the ring on May 31st at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thomas LaManna, who’s on a nine-fight win streak, has a strong feeling that he’ll make it an even 10 come fight night. Charlo, however, hopes he has a pillow and blanket ready.

“When I knock you out, I’m a stomp on yo ass,” said Charlo during a Zoom presser with the media to promote their showdown. “I’m a stomp on yo ass.”

During a brutal five-year stretch, Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) dealt with personal issues that continually derailed him. LaManna, on the other hand, is in arguably the best form of his life. His level of opposition hasn’t been top-notch, but the 33-year-old has done exactly what you're supposed to when an overmatched opponent jumps in the ring with you.

Although he hasn’t been known for his power, his last four opponents, and five out of the last six, haven’t been able to take him the distance. But whenever LaManna (39-5-1, 18 KOs) or anyone else highlights his recent handiwork, Charlo screws up his face and laughs.

The Houston native won’t knock LaManna for having a little self-belief but he doesn't believe that will save him from staring up at the ceiling lights once he connects with a right hand.

“You can’t f--- with me,” said an amped-up Charlo. “You can't f--- with me. I’m a show you. Keep talking, keep running yo mouth. I’m a show you. I’m a stop him. I'm a show you.”
