Jaron Ennis Siding With Gervonta Davis, Believes He Should Have Grabbed The Victory
The boxing world is still arguing and debating over the way things played out last weekend.

On one side of the fence, fans will point to Lamont Roach’s tight defense, timely offense, and ability to push his man back continually for 12 rounds. They also point at the “knockdown” in the 9th. On the other side of that, fans loved the work rate of Davis in the second half and the hard shots he was able to land.

Still, no matter which side you’re on, a majority decision draw simply doesn’t sit well with most, including Jaron Ennis.

For the current IBF welterweight champ, he never gave Roach much of a chance. So, needless to say, his jaw nearly hit the ground as he watched Roach have the fight of his life.

Once Davis was officially given a majority decision draw, however, Ennis took offense to it. While Roach’s efforts should be applauded, Ennis is strongly of the belief that Davis should have gotten the nod.

“He did good,” said Ennis to YSM Sports Media before quickly correcting himself. “He did great actually. I just don’t think he did enough to pull it off.”

Davis, who’s known for starting slow before picking up the pace in the second half, had issues with Roach from the beginning. Although he was considered the smaller man due to his current 130-pound reign, he stood his ground, banged on the inside, and refused to be bullied.

Giving away those early few rounds has never come back to bite Davis but this time around, it did. However, that’s all conjecture. From Ennis’ point of view, Davis was doing exactly what he needed to do, couple that with the way he closed the show and the Philly star is completely convinced that all three judges sitting ringside should have kept his win streak alive.

“I feel like people were overlooking what Tank was doing the first 5-6 rounds. He was boxing and frustrating him a little bit.”
