Jaron Ennis Gives His Thoughts On Stanionis: "He's A Good Fighter But It's Time To Step On Him"
Jaron Ennis passed the eye test a long time ago. Now, it’s all about proving that the substance matches his flash.

On April 12th, Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) will officially be a part of his first big fight when he attempts to unify the welterweight division against Eimantas Stanionis.

Beating up lesser fighters led to highlight-reel knockouts and popularity but Ennis wanted to show off his skills against the division’s best. In Stanionis, he believes he’s getting just that. For the 15-fight veteran, he’s also looked the part. Fast, strong, powerful, and more than capable of doing a little bit of everything.

Overlooking the Lithuanian wouldn’t be sagacious. He’s watched Stanionis from a distance and has come to respect and love his talent. However, The Ring’s No. 2 ranked welterweight is standing in his path and must be pushed out of the way violently.

“He’s a good fighter,” admitted Ennis to YSM Sports Media. “But it’s time for me to make my mark and step on him.”

Being left out in the cold is something Stanionis and Ennis share. Terence Crawford, Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman, and Vergil Ortiz, just to name a few, were on his hit list. So was Ennis. The latter was the only one that took the bait.

Now, it’s all about putting together the best preparation possible. Beating Stanionis was motivation enough but there’s plenty of added incentives. The IBF title that sits on Ennis’ mantle at his palatial estate will get some new friends if he gets the job done, mainly Stanionis' WBA strap and the vacant Ring Magazine title.

Visualization is a powerful tool. And it’s one that Ennis is currently using on a nightly basis. Walking out of Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City with more gold than he can carry is the first graphic that comes to mind which is all the inspiration he needed.

“He’s a good fighter but come April 12th, I will have all those belts around me.”
