Jamaine Ortiz ready to steal the show against Keyshawn Davis
An opportunity to assert himself as one of boxing’s best at 140 pounds lies ahead for Jamaine Ortiz.

Ortiz will face former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis in the co-main event of 'The Ring 6' on January 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York, live on DAZN. The event is headlined by Ring and WBO 140-pound champion Teofimo Lopez's clash against three-division titleholder Shakur Stevenson. In facing Davis, Ortiz believes it’s the perfect chance to display that he deserves to be in the conversation with the top guys in one of boxing’s hottest divisions.

“I was just praying for moments where I could be on a card like this and showcase my skills and be on the world's biggest stage and platform,” Ortiz told The Ring. “It’s finally here. I'm truly blessed and honored and excited to showcase my talent and what I could do.”

Ortiz (20-2-1, 10 KOs) has won three straight fights since losing his lone world title shot to Lopez by unanimous decision in 2024. In his last outing, Ortiz, 29, defeated late-replacement Ambiorix Bautista by third-round stoppage on August 23 in Orlando. The Worcester, Massachusetts, native was originally set to face Steve Claggett, but an injury forced the Canadian to withdraw from the fight.

The only other defeat of Ortiz’s career came against retired three-division champion Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2022.

Davis (13-0, 9 KOs) will be making his debut at junior welterweight. He won the WBO lightweight title in his last fight, a fourth-round stoppage of then-champion Denys Berinchyk last February. The 26-year-old from Norfolk, Virginia was scheduled to make his first title defense against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7, but he missed weight by over four pounds and lost his title on the scales before the fight was cancelled.

“He's a good opponent,” Ortiz said of Davis. “He's a strong fighter. He's a solid fighter. He has experience, a lot of amateur experience as well. At this level, that's what you expect to face. Top-level competition, great fighters, you're not going to be fighting no bums, especially if you want to be great."

The stakes are high for both men, as Davis has a chance to cement himself as another player at 140 pounds, while a win for Ortiz would easily be the best of his career and potentially set him up to earn another title shot. With those ingredients in place, Ortiz believes their fight could be the one everyone is talking about after January 31.

“It's going to be a clash,” Ortiz added. “It's going to be a great fight. It's definitely going to steal the show.”
