Jalil Hackett Suffers Freak Leg Injury in Sauna, Pulls Out From Saturday Rematch Following First Loss
Jalil Hackett's shot at exacting revenge following the first loss of his professional career will have to come at a later time.

Hackett was forced to pull out ahead of his scheduled welterweight rematch on Saturday against Jose Roman Vazquez due to suffering an ankle injury while stepping out of the sauna during the final stages of his weight cut.

Footage emerged on social media showing Hackett on crutches and with a walking boot on his right leg on Friday.

"We were doing the back half of the weight cut, just two-three pounds, and coming out of the sauna, I slipped and lost my footing. Instead of landing on my feet, I landed on the ball of my ankle," Hackett told FightHype.

“I wanted to fight. If it was up to me, I would have drugged myself up and taped that b**** up and fought. But the doctors in the hospital said we are not letting you leave out of here without something on that ankle. They said, 'You are not going to be ready for Saturday.' There is nothing I can do about it now. I wanted to be at the weigh-in to show ain't no motherf----r hiding. We'll be back."

Hackett (9-1, 7 KOs) vs. Vazquez (14-1, 6 KOs) was supposed to take place on the undercard of the Austin "Ammo" Williams vs. Patrice Volny show staged by Matchroom at the Caribe Royale in Orlando.

Hackett appeared healthy and in good spirits Thursday during their final press conference, adding the fight was postponed rather than cancelled, as he anticipates it will be rescheduled in the summer.

In the first fight, all accounts indicated that Hackett had a hard time making weight and he faded late in the final rounds, allowing Roman to notch the 10-round split decision win.
